January, 2012 |
When you sign up to go fishing with a member
who is providing the boat you need to
understand that the Capt is due some
consideration. Owning and operating a
boat is a very expensive thing, and it is
your responsibility to make sure you are
helping to defray an appropriate portion of
the expenses.

Victor and Carl’s Bike Outing
We are planning an informal bike outing for
Tuesday, January 3, 2012. We are inviting
members of the Marco Sports Fishing Club to
participate.
We know that several members are avid
bikers.
Looking around the meetings, many are not.
So, dig out that dusty old thing in the
corner of the garage with the two flat tires
and get ready to rumble.
Maybe there’s a New Year’s Resolution in
here.

Mr. Francis,
That is correct. The
bag limit for red
grouper in federal
waters has been
increased from 2 to 4
effective today. I
believe the state water
bag limit is still 2;
you would need to
contact the Fish and
Wildlife Commission
about that. I have
attached the Fishery
Bulletin on the subject.

ONLY THREE WEEKS LEFT !
until our BIG Wine and
HorsD'oeuvres Party fundraiser.
Jan 28 5pm to 7pm
There are still a lot of members
who have not yet bought/sold
their tickets. The event thrives
on a large turnout, and we must
get a good count soon. There
are many items to purchase (not
the least of which is wine and
beer), and we can't make
purchase estimates without a
good estimate of party goers.
The holidays are over, the
snowbirds are back, and everyone
seems to be looking for a
party....there is
none better
than all you can eat and drink
for $20. Spread the word in your
neighborhood, condo, etc.
friends, relatives, neighbors,
enemies, anyone. They will all
have a great time.
You can get
tickets by calling
Chuck or Mary Alice Wilson @
389-9587.
This is one of the biggest
social events on Marco so
selling tickets is an easy job.

Dear Cabela's Customer:
Occasionally, an issue of
such importance arises we
feel it necessary to contact
our loyal customers. With
our fishing rights at stake,
this is such an issue.
On August 23, 2010, the U.S.
Environmental Protection
Agency was petitioned by the
Center for Biological
Diversity and others to ban
lead from ammunition and
fishing tackle, including
sinkers, jigs, weighted fly
lines and components
containing lead, such as
brass and ballast in lures,
spinners, stick baits and
other fishing products.
On August 27, the EPA denied
the petition regarding
ammunition, but let stand
the petition to ban lead in
fishing tackle and has
opened a short period for
taking public comment.
Such a ban would cause
prices of fishing products
to skyrocket. Alternative
metals can cost from six to
15 times more than lead, and
most do not perform as well.
For many, fishing would no
longer be the affordable
sport it is now.
Please join Cabela's and
Keep America Fishing in
opposing this ban by
submitting your comments to
the EPA no later than
September 15, 2010. You can
easily do so by clicking
here.
It is a fast and easy way to
assure your opinion is
heard.
Cabela's is working in
conjunction with the
American Sportfishing
Association and Keep America
Fishing to protect our
tradition and heritage of
fishing.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely, |
|
